The earth we inherit
We at Sverkskog love nature. What a place and what resources. Through our services in forestry, tree felling, timber processing and construction, we are involved in the entire chain. We strive to use the earth with respect, as our ancestors did before us, and think a lot about what we leave to the next generation.
History of Sverkersholm
Sverkskog has its roots in Sverkersholm farm, located in the forests of Östergötland, dating back to the 14th century.
Sverkersholm, formerly called Sverkelsboda, was first mentioned as "Swerkisbodhum" in 1370. In the 16th century, the area consisted of two manors under Fyllingarum. In 1575 it became a separate farm, and in the 1650s it was transformed into a manor.
Several buildings from the farm's long history remain, some of which date back to around 1620.
According to tradition, there was a castle on an islet about 100 meters north of the farm. It is said to have been destroyed by Polish troops in the 17th century, who shelled it from a hilltop some 600 meters away. Remnants of the castle's stone base still remain, and the islet was once surrounded by water through a moat. The beautiful site, now a nature reserve, is an ancient monument.

Harsbo-Sverkersholm Nature Reserve
The farm is home to the beautiful Harsbo-Sverkersholm nature reserve, which covers almost 60 hectares spread out on both sides of Lake Tjen. The reserve is a scenic area with great cultural and historical value. Some of the oldest trees are 500-1000 year old oaks.

- Overnight stays in a rustic cabin, tipi tent or hammocks (under construction).
- Wood-fired sauna and natural forest beach on Lake Tjen.
- Fishing and crayfishing in our waters.
- Boat trip and swimming in Tjen.
The future of forestry
We work with cut-free and nature-oriented methods to protect forest resources. Our services are tailored to both private individuals and companies who want to manage the forest with recreation, biodiversity and production in mind.
The person behind Sverkskog
My name is Oskar Österholm, the fourth generation to live and work on Sverkersholm farm. I grew up on the farm and have since childhood been involved in everything from haymaking to lambing. In addition, I am trained at the Dramatic Institute in theater technology, which has taken me to Dramaten, Dansens Hus, Östgötateatern and on tour in Europe. I love working with my hands - whether it's building houses or creating art.
I live on the farm with my wife Carolina and our children Arven, Azalea, Juno and Stella. Very fun to experience nature and animals through the eyes of children.
Several relatives live on the farm, my sister Emelie and her husband Niklas run the farm with cows and sheep. My mother Solvig (whose grandparents moved here from Skåne), my father Ebbe, aunt, uncle and several cousins are also here. It's nice to have help if you need it and there is a great love for the farm.
